Love Doesn’t Need Guests, Just the Right Place

At Hotel Ábaco, we have the privilege of witnessing stories that aren’t looking for the spotlight, yet move us deeply with their truth.

Ábaco Stories – Vol. 3

There are moments that aren’t planned — they simply happen. They arise with the effortless beauty of what’s real, with the certainty of something meant to be.
At Hotel Ábaco, we have the privilege of witnessing stories that aren’t looking for the spotlight, yet move us deeply with their truth. This is one of them.

A new chapter in our collection of real stories, lived between the walls of a hotel with soul.
A love story that reminds us that no grand celebration is needed when the setting is right, and the feeling is genuine.

A quiet arrival, a growing emotion

It all began with a simple reservation. A Canadian guest, referred to us by a friend, came to stay at Ábaco for a week. Calm, kind and curious, we immediately connected with him.

One day, in a quiet conversation, he shared that his partner would be joining him — and that he intended to propose. He didn’t ask for anything, he just shared his excitement with a serene joy, as someone who knows they’re taking a meaningful step.

A few days later, they returned to the hotel hand in hand, with news that touched us all: they were engaged.

A wedding with no script, but full of soul

But there was more. They wanted to marry in Altea.
Not in a year’s time. Not even in a few months. In just three days.

No guests, no prior planning, no formalities. Just the two of them and a clear decision to celebrate their love in a place that, as they said, "gave us the certainty that we were in the perfect spot."

They asked if we could help. And of course, we did — not because we organise weddings (we don’t), but because at Ábaco, we create moments that last.

A walk, a sunset, a promise

We took care of everything: the white roses, the dress — which we found as if it had been waiting for her — and the perfect place to say “I do”.
They didn’t want a traditional wedding. He is Jewish, and his family had expected a big celebration.
But what they truly longed for was something more intimate. Something real.

They married at sunset, on Altea’s promenade. Candles lighting the way, white petals guiding her steps towards him.
I was the one who scattered them, quietly, letting the moment speak for itself.
Thomas — with his signature sensitivity — was their photographer that magical evening. He captured the simplicity, the emotion, and the beauty of a union without frills.

More than a hotel — a place that feels

When they returned to the hotel, still overwhelmed with emotion, they shared a sentence we’ll never forget:

“When we arrived, we just knew this was the perfect place to celebrate our love.”

At Hotel Ábaco, we don’t plan weddings. But we do know how to read the moment, set the scene, and care for the detail.
We make things happen — with heart.
Because what truly matters doesn’t always need a grand stage. It just needs a place that embraces, listens, and gently walks alongside you.

Ábaco, a refuge where love finds its place

This story isn’t about guest lists or banquets. It’s about essence, truth, and what remains when everything else fades away.
Because sometimes, the greatest luxury is intimacy, and the most beautiful setting is the one chosen by the heart.

At Ábaco, we are still that place.
Where time slows down… and love — when it appears — finds the perfect space to stay.
