In the heart of Altea, nestled among cobbled streets, the iconic blue-domed church and the gentle murmur of the Mediterranean, lies a place that wasn’t born as a business, but as a shared dream. A project that began with something as simple as serving a good cup of coffee—and has grown into one of the most soulful boutique hotels on the Costa Blanca.
Ábaco is not just a hotel. It is a home built on stories, journeys, encounters, and care. And like everything born of love, it grows with deep, lasting roots.
From a café with soul… to a hotel with history
It all began with Café Ábaco, a small, welcoming spot opened by Thomas’s parents, where every guest was greeted with warmth and sincerity. A simple space, yet full of life, where conversations flowed easily and people returned again and again because they felt at ease.
It was there that the first seeds were planted for what would eventually become Hotel Ábaco as we know it today. Thomas grew up surrounded by true hospitality—the kind based on listening and attention to detail. And when life brought Adelina into his path, that vocation evolved into a shared life project.
A refuge that grows with them
Together, Thomas and Adelina shaped the boutique hotel they had always dreamed of: an intimate place full of character, where each guest would feel not like a number, but like someone becoming part of a story.
At first, there were just six rooms—six unique spaces designed with the care and atmosphere of a family home.
But the project grew. Not in a hurried or impersonal way, but with intention, affection and deep respect for its essence. Today, Hotel Ábaco has 17 rooms, and several independent houses in the surrounding area—perfect for enjoying greater privacy while preserving the same warm and welcoming spirit.
Each expansion has been a declaration of intent: more than just adding space, it has been about adding comfort and meaning.
Shared destinations, lived emotions
One of the defining features of Hotel Ábaco is its themed rooms. But what many don’t know is that each one is named after a destination that Thomas and Adelina have explored together.
These are places that hold personal significance—journeys that have shaped them, moments that have become part of their love story.
That’s why each room has a distinct energy. They are not inspired from the outside, but from within. They are memories turned into space, emotions given shape. From the elegance of Provence to the exotic charm of Kasbah, and the vibrant soul of Vieja Habana, every corner tells a real, heartfelt story.
A hotel that feels like home
What sets Ábaco apart isn’t just the carefully curated design or the refined facilities. It’s that feeling—difficult to describe—that begins the moment you’re welcomed and stays with you until the final breakfast coffee.
It’s the silence that soothes, the conversation that comes at just the right time, the flower placed with purpose. It’s the quiet presence of the owners in every detail, every decision, every space.
Ábaco is one of those rare places where time seems to slow—not because it stops, but because you are finally allowed to live it more gently.
It is a refuge for those who seek more than a hotel. For those who value authenticity, quiet beauty, and warmth that doesn’t need to shout.
An experience that stays with you
Crossing the threshold of Ábaco means stepping into a story that is still being written. And like every story told with heart, it leaves a mark.
Because some stays end with a checkout… and others remain etched in your memory.
That is Hotel Ábaco: a life project turned Mediterranean refuge.
A home for those who understand that travel is also about finding—and that the most special destinations are sometimes not on the map, but in the people who bring them to life.
