Muchos de vosotros cuando habéis visitado Altea en Septiembre,os preguntáis que significa esa celebración que cubre las calles de altea con gente vestida con trajes o porque las calles se llenan de músicos y gente local celebrando una fiesta, si no son fechas señaladas como la navidad o la semana santa. Los Moros y Cristianos son una festividad popular celebrada en España, principalmente en el sur de la Comunidad Valenciana y otras zonas del sureste peninsular. Según la tradición, estas fiestas conmemoran las batallas que se libraron durante la Reconquista, durante la cual los reinos hispánicos cristianos retomaron los dominios ocupados por los mahometanos. Se conmemora asimismo todo el período de rebeliones sarracenas, ataques de piratas berberiscos, y la expulsión de los moriscos, que tiene lugar en el siglo XVII, época en la que, en algunos casos, tienen ya su origen los albores de esta celebración. The Moors and Christians are a popular festivity celebrated in Spain, mainly in the south of the Valencian Community and other areas of the peninsular southeast. Las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos Altea se celebran el cuarto fin de semana de septiembre y tienen un duración de una semana. Vienen celebrándose desde 1979 con actos de pregón, embajadas, dianas y desfiles. Unos días únicos, donde las calles de Altea se llenan de música, colorido y diversión, con numerosas actividades y actos para disfrutar de un gran ambiente festivo. The festivities of Moros y Cristianos in Altea are celebrated on the fourth weekend of September and last for a week. They have been held since 1979 with pregón acts, embassies, targets and parades. Y es que, Altea encierra una gran historia entorno a sus fiestas. Cuando Jaime I desembarcó en la localidad, descubrió en Altea la localización perfecta para defender el resto de territorio marítimo. Siglos después, se siguen conmemorando en la localidad las tradicionales fiestas que evocan la lucha entre Moros y Cristiano. Unas fiestas en las que no faltan las tracas, mascletás y, por supuesto, la tradicional batalla que recrea la ocupación árabe y su posterior reconquista. Altea holds a lot of history around its festivities. Entre los numerosos actos festivos, destaca la ofrenda de flores, la escenificación de la llegada del Cristo al pueblo, la “Entrà de la Murta”, la procesión del Cristo y San Blas o la emblemáticas entradas de las “filaes” de Moros y Cristianos. Los desfiles son la parte más turística de la fiesta y se celebran en dos días: la tarde del sábado y la del lunes. Entrega de banderas, paellas al mediodía, espectáculos musicales para los niños y la gran despedida en la barraca festera con música y monólogos, ponen el punto y final a los intensos días de conmemoraciones y diversión. Among the many festive events, highlights the offering of flowers, the staging of the arrival of the Christ to the people, the «Entrà de la Murta», the procession of Christ and San Blas or the emblematic entries of the «filaes» of Moors and Christians .
